MOOD | Week #1 & Starter Kit

Hi you guys!

So I wanted to share with you what I got for my Makeup School starter kit and also tell you a little bit how my first week was.

If you have read my blog you will know I am going to MOOD makeup school in Iceland, I am taking the evening course because I am also attending another school during the day. The school was founded in 2011 so it is a relatively new one, but has been a very popular school since it was founded. They also have relations with MAC Cosmetics and teaches by using their products.

My first day was Monday the 29th of august, I don’t think I’ve ever been this anxious in
quite a while, I was thinking about not going but my sister called me and persuaded me to go. We just learned a little bit about the school and our teacher Harpa, she is such an amazing teacher and a wonderful warm girl, she works mostly in advertisements and TV.
We also told everyone in our group who we were and why we wanted to study at MOOD. Then we got our kits which included everything on this list except the concealers which we got the night after.

Second day was a lot better, I wasn’t as anxious to go there as I was the day before. I learned a little about the skin types and how to prep the skin before makeup application, we got our concealers today. Harpa also used one girl of the group as a model to show us how to apply foundation, shading with bronzer and blush. Then we worked in pairs to practice what we just learned, Me and Eva modeled for each other and I was so nervous because I had never done anyones makeup who didn’t have the same skin colour as I did (Eva is Vietnamese, moved to Iceland and then moved to Denmark), when we finished we decided to do a little eyeshadow practice as well even though we were just learning about the basic skin routines. It was a lot of fun and I don’t know why I was so worried about screwing her makeup up, but she looked stunning! We did a great job on each other and learned a lot.

Third day was really easy for me because I was working on my own makeup so I didn’t have to worry about making someone else look weird! We learned more about basic skincare and basic foundation routine, as well as basic eye shading. Once I finished I was allowed to go and the teacher thought I did a good job!

On the fourth day I was a little more nervous beause I knew I would have a new model, with
a new skin type/colour and eye shape.
We also got a new teacher Þóra who is equally as lovely as Harpa. Þóra works at the theatre and does fashion shows in Scandinavia.
She taught us, eye shading an how to apply eyeliner.
I got paired with Sunna who is actually studying hair at the same school Im at. I was really happy with the look I did on her, the teacher liked it also, although I could have done more shading underneath the eye.

That is my first week of MOOD Makeup School I only go there 4 nights a week, which is both nice and sad haha, Nice because I have more time for my family for one extra day, sad because I just want to be there all the time! I love it there!

Back to school Makeup! <3

Here we go again…

School is about to start for me again on the 18th of august, I am studying Graphic Media at the Technology College in Reykjavík.

I thought it would be a good idea to sit down at my vanity and do a little makeup blog and a video ( will post it at the bottom of the page). I wanted to do my makeup so it looked natural but would be a wowzer at the same time, something so that you can feel confident during your first day at school, without looking like it’s a night out with the girls.

The products I used for this look.

 

I have anxiety that I deal with every day but when my routine changes the anxiety can become so overwhelming that I sometimes can’t deal with the day. And at school that anxiety is multiplied x 1000. The weird thing is, when I wear makeup to school I feel anxious because I think my foundation is too dark, my makeup looks cakey or that I have done some horrible “mistake” and when people look at me I think they are judging me on my appearance, which is crazy because I don’t know what they are thinking,
maybe they like what I did, maybe they’re not even looking at me! When I don’t wear makeup I feel like everyone thinks I’m ugly and they wont want to talk to me because of that.

This is the horrible cycle of anxiety and there are loads of people out there like me! This tiny little detail that shouldn’t matter, can actually have a great impact on your self-esteem and your mental health. So I really want to try to do a makeup look that makes me feel confident and can reduce my anxiety for the first few weeks of school. So first off we need to figure out what makes me so anxious when I wear makeup to school, and then we need to create a Back to school makeup look that will make me feel amazing!

1. My skin – Is my foundation too dark? is it patchy? is it cakey?
2. My Lipstick – Is it on my teeth or smudged around my mouth?
3. My eyeshadow – Is it too dark, not blended enough?

Ok so its not that bad, only 3 issues that I have when my anxiety tries to control me! This can be easily fixed, I hope, Lets get in to the makeup look!

EYES;

• MAC Paint Pot – Soft Ochre
• Morphe 35N – # 4 (Set the base and use as a highlight)
• Morphe 35N – # 14 ( transition colour )
• Morphe 35N – # 29 (shading)
• Maybelline Lash Sensational – Black
• Maybelline Linerefine Kajal – Black
• Maybelline Master Ink Matte eyeliner – Black

Today I am starting with my eyes, this is where very soft warm colours merge with matte awesomeness. I prepped my eyelids with the MAC Paint Pot and blended it up towards my brow. Then I Eyeshadow #4 all over my lid and brow bone to set the base and to use as a highlight. Then I applied Shadow #14 to my crease and outer corner to use as a transition colour and warming shade. Third and last eyeshadow was #29 in the Morphe 35N palette, this colour was used to shade the very outside corner of my eye and blended insanely in to the other two! I curled my lashes and used the Kajal in my upper waterline (it will smudge to the lower one and the look will be softer), applied a medium thickness cat eyeliner with the Maybelline Master Ink Matte eyeliner.. I did do a mistake the first time using this eyeliner and if you watch the video u will see why I started with my eyes and how to fix this kind of a mistake! We are almost done here folks! I grabbed my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, I applied 2 coats of the mascara and added the Matte GOSH lipstick.

FACE;

• Smash box Photo Finish Primer Water.
• Maybelline FIT me foundation – 110.
• Maybelline FIT me concealer – 10
• Maybelline FIT me Powder – 120
• Mirrored Pink Blush – Sleek palette
• Sahara blush – Sleek palette (used as bronzer)
• NYX Contour Duo – Light
• Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil -Hazel
• GOSH Velvet Touch Matte Lipstick – Sweetness

To start with I sprayed my face with the primer and used 1 pump of the Maybelline FIT me foundation, and applied it all over my face with a Morphe foundation brush, and then I blended it further with a miracle complexion sponge from RT. This foundation is very lightweight and doesn’t cover my freckles completely but it does even out my skin tone well. I applied the concealer on blemishes, under my eyes and on red areas. I used a RT Powder brush to lightly dust my face with the Maybelline FIT me powder and focused mostly on areas where I tend to get shiny. I lightly filled in my brows using the Rimmel Eyebrow pencil and feathered the product out with the comb attachment on the lid. Next I added a tiny amount of Sahara blusher to warm up my face and applied the pink Sleek blush with the RT blush brush. Lastly I added a tiny bit of the NYX Contour powder and buffed my face with my powder brush to get a seamless look… The keyword here is “slightly and lightly”!

I did do this look the other day as well to see if it would work, so I went to a crowded place to see if I felt alright about this, and I have to say it wasn’t bad, I do get anxiety just by being outside of the house but it wasn’t fixated on my appearance this time!

Lindex Beauty!

So excited right now you guys!!!

A few days ago I got the news that the super value-priced Swedish shop, Lindex was expanding their brand and launching a beauty range! I just could not wait! I didn’t know that I didn’t have to wait at all! I went with my mum to the mall on Friday, looking for a birthday present for myself and of course I check out Lindex, when In there I realized that their COSMETIC LABEL IS OUT… yes I am late haha it was launched in Lindex stores and online at lindex.com on April 15!!!! OMG I can’t tell you how excited I am for this! Lindex Beauty is a collection of beautiful affordable makeup and body products to curb your highstreet beauty cravings!

I had a little look around and all their beauty items look really nice and they are super cheap! I decided to pick up a Eyeshadow Quartet called “Cappucino Love” and it is gorgeous, the lightest shade has a little frost to it, the medium shades are very shimmery and the darkest one is matte, its beautiful! I had a little play with the colours on Saturday and I have to say that these eyeshadows are amazing! very nice colours, buildable and they stay on pretty for a long time! I didn’t need to touch up at all! With it I got a little gift, samples of their body range, green/blue Body lotion and the pink bodywash, the packaging doesn’t tell you what fragrance the product is but I promise you its amazing. Sorry for the shitty camera quality! I can’t find the charger for my Camera so I ha to use the iPhone, And say hello to my natural frizzy hair haha I kinda like it like that.

Back to the beauty stuff! For my face I used Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation and L’Oréal Bronzer, I didnt really put much powder on just a tad where I get shiny, and on my eyes I used Lindex Eyeshadow Quartet in Cappucino Love, lightest shade I used for the inner corners of my eyes, under the eye and on the brow bone, the second lightes I used all over the lid, the second darkest I used for the crease and the darkest I used in the outer corner of my eye and underneath it, then I blended like a crazy person! I am in love with this look and I can see myself using this product alot in the future!

I felt really ill this morning so I took the day off from school and stayed home watcing BBC on my sofa, I am feeling alot better than I did in the morning so I got my makeupbag out and did mah face and hair!
